ALL CLOTHING/JEWELRY: odAOMO

ROPE NECKLACE: Neon Zinn

I love photographing when I travel because I get to meet new models, photograph in an unfamiliar city and collaborate with new fashion designers. New Orleans has its own unique fashion community that I wanted to represent so I knew I wanted to work with local designers while I was visiting.

While traveling to New Orleans I was fortunate enough to work with an amazing and inspiring woman designer, Dr. Sophia Aomo Omoro, who embodies every pillar of what Honey & Rouge represents. Born in Kenya, Dr. Omoro is still a practicing doctor as well as a fashion designer. She sources all of her fabric sustainably in Kenya, much of it from a small textile company run by two Kenyan women. A small team of people in Kenya make the garments and jewelry; Dr. Omoro maintains personal relationships with all of the artisans.

The warmth and love that is put into her designs emanates from her showroom, located in the charming French Quarter. When I walked in I was greeted by odAOMO's creative director, Jessica, who gladly showed me around and even gave me a peak into their secret shed in the back, filled with past season's styles.

I also got the chance to work with a local artist, Seth, who makes hand-tied rope necklaces that bridge the gap between fashion and art.
